LDStorymakers Conference and the Rusty Banjo

This past weekend I was blessed with the opportunity to attend the annual LDStorymakers conference in Utah. What a wonderful experience! I've never before attended, thinking I would be a rusty banjo at a classical piano recital--that is to say I didn't think I'd measure up.

The two-day event was packed with information on refining the craft of writing, marketing tips, and ideas on how to balance family and career. The presenters were knowledgeable and more than willing to field any question or concern. I wish there had been a third day because there were so many presentations I wanted to hear and too little time to do it all.

Over the years I've had the privilege of getting to know several of those who were in attendance, most through the Internet. Observing their determination to make the world a better place I've come to admire and respect them. That respect grew ten-fold as I spent time among some of the most talented people I've ever had the honor to associate with. I will never forget Haley Hatch Freeman whose book on anorexia is a bright beacon of hope for those suffering from the disorder, Randy McNeely whose entire countenance shines when he talks about his work, beautiful intuitive Ruby, mega-talented Jewel, and the gifted Wendy Elliott from the blog Wendword. Thanks, all of you, for making me feel welcome and for sharing your insight and wisdom.

I can hardly wait until next year.

My critique table. If it looks like I'm holding my breath I was--I was honored and excited to be there.

Thanks for stopping by, Jewel. Thanks, too, for your sweet comments--they mean a lot.

Don, I enjoyed getting to know you and look forward to reading more of your work! One of these days I'd like to ask you more about Lyme disease. My daughter tested negative, but I still wonder if she might have it.
