~Great writers (the published, the almost published, and the just starting out) who are also great people.

~Bootcamp. You were all awesome. Really. Thank you for your comments and suggestions.

~Old friends.

~New faces. I love it when people come up and introduce themselves.

~Smiles and hugs.

~Learning more about the craft.

~Authors whose eyes light up when they talk about their book/s. Their passion is contagious. I love hearing the stories behind the stories.

~Books. And more books.

~Enthusiasm and encouragement.

~Late night sushi. And pizza. And Cafe Rio.

~Don't wait until the last few minutes to try and get pictures.

~Make sure the camera is on the right setting before handing it over to someone else and asking them to take a shot.

~Sleep at least one, if not two full nights before the conference.

~Try to become more adept at matching name tags and faces.

~Muster the courage to talk to people you'd really like to talk to; overcome social shyness.

~Invite more people to late night sushi. I crave more time to talk to other writers about life and writing.

Excellent advice, Tamara. Thank you! It was nice to meet you--albeit briefly--at the conference. You are beautiful! And Melissa says that flows both inside as well as out. Congratulations on your book. I wish you all the best for great success!

Angie: I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to meet you. I think I passed you once in the hallway...next year, okay?

Lori,

stumbled upon your blog after visiting a friend's. I am interested in writing and just starting out. In fact I only have about 6 pages written of my own book. It has always been something I wanted to do but I've never had the guts to do it.
Anyways I just wanted to say hi to you and let you know I enjoyed your blog. I will be back to read more of your updates.

Thanks you, Elizabeth. I'll go check it out.

Nice to meet you, Melissa. Six pages is six pages--good work! Here's one of my favorite guts quotes, "There's a lot of blood, sweat and guts between dreams and success." I'm proud of you--the first step is one of the hardest. Keep at it. Page 7 and page 8 and page 9 do lead to page 100 and page 300. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't...not even yourself.
